Vicente  Font, MD, FACP, FCCP, FACC, FASE

Dr. Vicente Font is a clinical cardiologist and a member of the Holy Cross Medical Group Cardiology Associates of Fort Lauderdale Practice. He received his undergraduate education from the University of Maryland and his medical degree (magna cum laude) from Universidad Central Del Caribe School of Medicine, Puerto Rico. Dr. Font trained at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease. Following completion of his post-graduate training, Dr. Font joined the Department of Cardiology at Cleveland Clinic Florida as Attending Physician. Dr. Font is Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He is certified by National Board of Echocardiogragphy as well in Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography. Dr. Font has published numerous medical papers in peer-review journals and has remained active in clinical research. His areas of interest include clinical and general cardiology, valvular and coronary disease, women’s cardiac health, congestive heart failure, general and transesophageal echocardiography, pericardial as well as congenital heart disease. He is a commissioned officer in the Medical Corps, US Army Reserve. Dr. Font is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Charles D. Russo, MD, FACC

Charles D. Russo, M.D. received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University in Bronx, New York and his medical degree from New York Medical College. Dr. Russo trained at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and served as Chief Resident. He completed his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital where he also served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine for 5 years. Dr. Russo joined Cardiology Associates of Fort Lauderdale in 1987 and then joined the Holy Cross Medical Group in 2010. In addition, he has served as Chief of Staff at North Ridge Medical Center. Dr. Russo is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Lipidology and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Russo has published several medical papers in peer-review journals and has remained active in clinical research. His areas of interest include clinical cardiology, nuclear cardiology, lipidology and preventative cardiology. Dr. Russo has also written a book titled The Fort Lauderdale Diet: A Cardiologist’s Solution to the Calorie Calamity.

Joshua Purow, MD, FACC

Dr. Joshua M. Purow joined Cardiology Associates of Fort Lauderdale in 2004 and has been practicing both general and interventional cardiology with the Holy Cross Medical Group since 2010. He received his undergraduate education at Yeshiva University and received his Medical Degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York in 1997. Dr. Purow completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the New York University Medical Center in New York City. He then continued his training at the University of Miami Medical Center where he completed his Cardiology Fellowship. He served as the Chief Fellow and was awarded the Harry Botwick Memorial Award for Superior Performance as a Cardiology Fellow in 2004. Dr. Purow is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He is fully accomplished in all invasive and interventional techniques including diagnostic coronary angiography, balloon angioplasty, coronary stenting, intravascular ultrasound, thrombectomy and intracoronary pressure measurements. He also performs peripheral artery angiography and interventions for those with peripheral artery disease. Dr. Purow is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He has published numerous medical papers in peer-review journals and has remained active in clinical research. His areas of interest include clinical and general cardiology, coronary artery disease and interventional cardiology. He is active in heart research as a principal investigator of the Holy Cross Jim Moran Heart and Vascular Research Institute.

Rishi Anand, MD Photo

Rishi Anand, MD, FHRS

Dr. Rishi Anand joined the Holy Cross Medical Group Cardiology Associates of Fort Lauderdale Practice in October of 2010 and practices clinical cardiac electrophysiolgy and adult cardiovascular medicine.  Dr.  Anand is triple board certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Adult Cardiovascular Medicine, and Internal Medicine.  He has also completed level 3 training in Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT). Dr. Anand is the Medical Director of Holy Cross Hospital's Electrophysiology Lab.

He performed his undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University and graduated with a bachelors degree in biology in 1998.  He received his medical degree from Louisiana State Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 2002.  He completed his Internal Medicine Internship at Louisiana State Health Sciences Center in 2003, Internal Medicine Residency at Louisiana State Health Sciences Center in 2005.  He subsequently completed his Adult Cardiovascular Fellowship at Ochnser Clinic Foundation in New Orleans in 2008.  Dr. Anand spent an additional two years training as a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.  He completed his Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship in 2010. Dr. Anand is a specialist in the management of cardiac arrhythmias.  He is skilled in cardiac ablation procedures, tilt-table testing, and pacemaker/internal cardiac defibrillator implantation.  He has a clinical interest in the management of patients with atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), ventricular fibrillation, syncope, palpitations, sudden cardiac death, pacemakers, and internal cardiac defibrillators. Dr.  Anand has published several articles in peer reviewed journals and has written a book chapter on the role of MRI in cardiac electrophysiology.  He remains active in clinical research, as a principal investigator at the Holy Cross Jim Moran Heart and Vascular Research Insitute, and lectures to the general community about various cardiac topics.

Joshua M. Larned, MD

Dr. Larned joined Cardiology Associates of Fort Lauderdale in July of 2008 and practices general cardiology with an additional focus in congestive heart failure. He has been a member of the Holy Cross Medical Group since 2010 and serves as Medical Director of Holy Cross Hospital’s Congestive Heart Failure Program. Holy Cross Hospital CHF Services is unique in that it serves a heart failure population in a non-transplant/implant setting and across the spectrum of their illness.

Dr. Larned performed his undergraduate education at Davidson College and graduated in 1994. He received his medical degree from Tufts University in 2001. He completed his internal medicine internship at Emory University in 2002, internal medicine residency at Emory University in 2004, and then served as internal medicine Chief Resident at Emory University from 2004-2005. He subsequently completed his general cardiology fellowship at Emory University in June 2008 and spent his final year of training pursuing an additional fellowship in advanced heart failure.

Dr. Larned is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology. He also currently serves as Cardiology Rotation Director for the Holy Cross Hospital/University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Larned’s scope of practice focuses upon identifying treatment gaps, optimizing best evidence treatment, risk assessment, education and team-building. He also participates in the shared care of patients with implanted left ventricular assist devices (LVAD). He currently serves as principal investigator for a number of CHF-specific clinical trials being conducted at Holy Cross Hospital.

Dr. Daniel Weitz is a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist with the Holy Cross Medical Group Cardiology Associates of Fort Lauderdale Practice. Cardiac electrophysiologists specialize in the electrical disorders of the heart. Dr. Weitz received his undergraduate education from Boston University in Massachusetts  and his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York, NY. Dr. Weitz trained at Columbia University School of Medicine where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine. He then returned to New York University School of Medicine to complete Fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. He also served as an instructor in clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. Dr. Weitz received the Young Investigator Award from the American Heart Association in 2011 and has been published in several medical forums. His focus areas include atrial fibrillation, arrhythmia, syncope, fainting spells, palpitations, skipped-beats, atrial flutter, SVT, WPW-Syndrome, ventricular tachycardia, pacemakers, defibrillators and heart failure devices. Dr. Weitz is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.

Jorge Arturo Flores, MD, FACC

Dr. Jorge Arturo Flores is a clinical cardiologist with the Holy Cross Medical Group Gallagher Adult Practice and has been practicing in this Fort Lauderdale, FL office since 1996. Dr. Flores is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Mexico Faculty of Medicine in Mexico City. Dr. Flores then moved to Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada to complete his Internal Medicine internship at Moncton City Hospital. He then moved to New Orleans, LA, for his residency in Internal Medicine at Touro Infirmary (Tulane University). He then completed a Clinical Cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Flores speaks English, Spanish, French and Italian and is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography.

Dr. Richard Goldman is a clinical cardiologist with the Holy Cross Medical Group North Broward Cardiology Practice. Dr. Goldman's cardiology office in Margate, FL has been with the Holy Cross Medical Group since 2010. Dr. Goldman is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL. After medical school, Dr. Goldman completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY. Following his residency, he completed a Cardiology fellowship also at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Goldman's focus areas include coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, health and wellness, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, nutrition, obesity, primary prevention, valvular heart disease and heart disease in women.

Dr. Ricky Schneider practices clinical cardiology in Coral Springs, FL and joined the Holy Cross Medical Group in August 2011. Dr. Schneider is Board Certified in Cardiology and Internal Medicine, and he is certified in Nuclear Cardiology by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He obtained his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. Dr. Schneider completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY, and his fellowship training in Cardiology was completed at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Dr. Schneider is also active in heart research as one of the principal investigators at the Holy Cross Jim Moran Heart and Vascular Research Institute.

Dr. Claudio Smuclovisky

Claudio Smuclovisky, MD

Dr. Claudio Smuclovisky practices in Fort Laudedale, FL as a board certified Diagnostic Radiologist who specializes in cardiac imaging (certified in cardiovascular computed tomography). Dr. Smuclovisky is also board certified in Nuclear Medicine. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. After an internship in Nuclear Medicine in Argentina, he went to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL to complete his residency, also in Nuclear Medicine. Upon completion of that program, Dr. Smuclovisky continued his training with a second residency - Diagnostic Radiology. Dr. Smuclovisky serves as director of South Florida Medical Imaging Cardiovascular Institute (located at Holy Cross Hospital).


About the Center

The Jim Moran Heart and Vascular Center at Holy Cross offers the latest in high-tech cardiac care. Holy Cross was the first in Broward County to offer Induced Hypothermia, which has shown to increase the odds of surviving cardiac arrest, and has been shown to improve neurological outcomes after such an event. We were also the first in Florida to use the Prime ECG Vest which, in select patients, may give physicians additional data beyond a traditional electrocardiogram.
